New Miniature Golf Opens in Land O’ Lakes
Residents of the north Tampa, central Pasco area have a new family activity open to them. An 18-hole lighted miniature golf course opened at the Plantation Palms Golf Club within the Plantation Palms subdivision in Land O’ Lakes this week. It is the first neighborhood miniature golf course to open at a regulation-size golf club and the only miniature golf course within 18 miles of the area.
You won’t see any windmills or dinosaurs at this course. It is a custom-built course themed around water, trick shots, ramps, traps, chutes, and bumps. It is custom-built by Miniature Golf Solutions, a national miniature golf course builder and features 3 waterfalls, 2 streams and 3 ponds with lush, tropical landscaping.
Membership is not required, and the course is open to all ages. Cost to play is $7.49 for adults and $5.99 for kids ages 3 to 10. The course is located at 23253 Plantation Palms Boulevard just off Collier Parkway 1.5 miles north of 54. Look for the golf course clubhouse less than half a mile inside Plantation Palms. Check in at the pro shop and play. Hours are 10am to 9pm Sunday through Thursday and til 10pm on Friday and Saturday.
Before or after the game, players are invited to dine at the Mulligans Irish Pub that also recently opened at the Plantation Palms clubhouse next to the miniature golf. The family-friendly, casual-theme restaurant offers salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings, Irish favorites like fish n’ chips and shepherd’s pie, craft beers, a full bar, and large-screen TVs. Other Mulligans Pubs are located at Pebble Creek Golf Club in New Tampa and the Wentworth Golf Club in Tarpon Springs.
“Golf clubs must evolve to serve the public and become community centers to prosper”, says Ace Golf owner Bill Place, “we are the first to build a miniature golf at a golf club and the first in the area to add Irish Pubs”. The club will also build a 3,000 square foot banquet room to host weddings and events.
Ace Golf is a local, family-owned business owned by Su Lee and Bill Place. They started the Ace Golf Ranges in Brandon and Riverview over 20 years ago. The company also owns and operates the Pebble Creek Golf Club, Wentworth Golf Club, and Crescent Oaks Country Club.
Plantation Palms had closed for two years before Ace purchased it last May. After 6 months of renovation, the golf course has been re-built, the clubhouse refurbished, and the mini-golf built. The once top-rated golf course re-opens to the public Dec. 5th. A lighted golf range opens at the end of the year.
